The next Era of generic Top Level Domains
In 2012, the generic Top Level Domain space opened for applications and resulted in over 1200 new generic Top Level Domain endings being added to the root zone.
Following the request of the global Internet Community, a new application window for even more generic Top Level Domains will open in 2026.
This presentation will explain to the audience how the process works, what the opportunities are, how the Top Level domain landscape may change and how to apply for your own generic Top Level Domain.
Gabriella Schittek is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)’s Stakeholder Engagement Director for the Nordics & Central Europe. In this role, she is responsible for supporting the organisation’s engagement in the region with various Internet stakeholder groups. This includes trainings activities and information sharing on the latest developments within ICANN.
