Small hinges swing big doors (oft veltir lítil þúfa þungu hlassi)
Is artificial intelligence reshaping the very idea of startup funding? Traditionally, the path to success meant building an MVP, raising capital, hiring a team, and hoping profitability would follow. But the AI era is changing that story. Today, small, agile teams—and even solo developers—are creating remarkable value and competing globally. Base44, built by a single developer, was acquired by Wix for $80 million. Indie makers like Pieter Levels are generating substantial recurring revenue streams with minimal resources. At Jónsbók, a five-person Icelandic team has matched the U.S. revenue of funded competitors like Legora within just one year—and without a single dollar of external investment. So how big does a team really need to be in the age of AI? Does scaling headcount still accelerate innovation, or can lean, focused teams outperform traditional models? This session explores how AI is redefining productivity, funding needs, and the future of startup growth.
