From Data to Discovery: The Power of Geovisualisation

Gögn | Data    06.02.2026    ENG

How can data help us see the world differently? This presentation explores how innovative geospatial technologies and immersive visualisation techniques are transforming how we understand our planet. It showcases how citizen-generated data, interactive mapping, and virtual environments can turn complex spatial information into meaningful insights connecting people, place, and data in new ways. Through examples ranging from gamified participatory mapping to VR-based geovisualisations of cartograms, this talk demonstrates how innovative approaches to spatial data can deploy the power of geovisualisation to enable deeper engagement, better decision-making, and a more connected understanding of global environmental and social change.
