There are 10 tracks at the conference - five running at each time.
We aim to have at least one presentation in English running and hopefully more but some of the presentations are in Icelandic.

About UTmessan              

UTmessan is one of the largest IT events in Iceland. The purpose of the UTmessa is to highlight the importance of information technology and its effects on individuals, businesses and Icelandic society alike. The goal is to see a significant increase in the number of students who choose technical disciplines in universities across the country and especially in computer science. 

The event will take place at Harpa Conference Centre and is twofold:

Friday 8 of February - a whole day conference for the IT industry and a big exhibition.
There will be many tracks at the conference; a track for top level managers and CEOs, a track for CTOs and technical managers and a track for programmers and IT professionals. Also we will give the IT award at a special ceremony at the end of the day.

Saturday 9 of February - the fair will be open on Saturday too with free enterance where all of the biggest IT companies in Iceland will take part.
The fair is open to the public and there we hope to see professionals and families alike take part. We have planned events that hopefully will generate an interest of the younger generations in the IT branch. 
The event is a joint collaboration between Ský (The Icelandic Computer Society), The University of Iceland, Reykjavik University and The Federation of Icelandic Industries.

Hvað er UTmessan?

UTmessan er einn stærsti viðburður ársins í tölvugeiranum og hefur verið haldin árlega frá árinu 2011. Tilgangurinn er ekki síst til að sýna almenningi hversu stór og umfangsmikil þessi grein er orðin hér á landi. Á UTmessuna mæta öll helstu tölvu- og tæknifyrirtæki landsins og taka þátt með einum eða öðrum hætti og hvetja þannig fólk til að kynna sér um hvað tölvuiðnaðurinn snýst.  

UTmessan skiptist í tvo daga:

Föstudagur: Ráðstefna og sýning um það helsta sem er að gerast í tölvugeiranum. 

Laugardagur: Þar sýna öll helstu tölvu- og tæknifyrirtæki landsins það sem þau hafa fram að færa á sérstakri tölvusýningu.

 

Fyrir hverja?

Föstudagur: Ráðstefnudagur og sýning ætluð fagfólki um upplýsingatækni svo sem þá sem starfa í eða við tölvumál eða hafa brennandi áhuga á þeim. 

Skrá þarf þátttöku á ráðstefnuna sérstaklega í gegnum þar til gert skráningarform og er þátttökugjaldi stillt í hóf.

Laugardagur: Sýningin er ætluð öllum sem vilja sjá hvað tölvugeirinn hefur upp á að bjóða. Ný tækni, þrautir, kynningar og leikir verða í gangi á sýningarsvæðinu sem hentar öllum aldri. Ýmis verkefni verða kynnt í ráðstefnusölum og hefur hönnunarkeppni HÍ verið hluti af UTmessunni síðustu ár. Skemmtun við allra hæfi fyrir alla.

Aðgangur að sýningardegi UTmessunnar er ókeypis og eru ungir sem aldnir hvattir til að mæta og sjá framtíðina með berum augum.  

Af hverju UTmessan?

UTmessan hefur fest sig í sessi sem einn helsti vettvangur fyrirlestra, umræðna, skoðanaskipta og nýjunga í tölvugeiranum á Íslandi og endurspeglar mikilvægi tölvutækninnar í daglegu lífi okkar allra. Þar er jafnframt að finna umfangsmikið og fjölbreytt sýningarsvæði þar sem öll helstu tölvu- og tæknifyrirtæki landsins sýna framtíðina í tækjum og vörum sem ætíð vekja mikla athygli og er fjölsótt. Á síðustu árum hefur UTmessan í auknum mæli orðið sá staður þar sem íslenskir og erlendir sérfræðingar kynna það helsta í þessum geira og endurspeglar hún þann fjölbreytileika, framþróun og möguleika sem upplýsingatæknin býr yfir.

Nemendum í þessum greinum hefur fjölgað umtalsvert hér á landi á síðustu árum enda hefur UTmessan, sem einn fjölsóttasti atburður sinnar tegundar hér á landi, sýnt fram á hversu fjölbreytt starfssviðið er, atvinnumöguleikar góðir og að það hentar öllum, óháð kyni.
